To add a little more to this subject. Cane toads are contagionous, and they spit the contagion, which is why they are hated so much. Apparently they spit at eye height for a toddler or pet. My dogs bounce on toads-frogs here, to make them jump, so I'm not too enthusiastic about them. I think they are only in the Queensland state though. Apparently it is now illegial to kill these toads using raquets-golf clubs-baseball bats-cricket bats. You are supposed to put them into your freezer to kill them humanely. Or splat them with your car. Because of the dryness of the State at the moment, the cane toads are attracted to gardens that have swimming pools - something to be aware of if you plan on having a pool? Just like spiders, its something to watch for, and I believe they do grow to be the size of an elephant!

QUOTE=JosieJSponge - you'll be fine!!!!! Although, I do know how you feel! Have a spade at hand to splat them with!! Especially if they are cane toads!!!! I've heard somewhere that people will swerve to hit them in the road - doing their bit for conservation! Obviously though Sponge - don't get too close to a cane toad as they have contagionoue venom in their glands (i think that's where it is!). We used to get lots of frogs in our garden but then they disappeared and we got lots of ugly toads which were big.
