You'd be better off posting this in the general 163'ers thread here: since this is the general immigration forum, so you'll find that the vast majority are going for send visas, so the business migrants may not see it here.
You've pretty much got it covered re the differences between 160 and 163. Generally, they relate to the turnover requirements here, turnover requirements in Oz, employment levels, etc... however, one other thought I just had which is very relevant to you is that with sponsorship, the age restriction is raised by 10 years, so you wouldn't have a deadline to apply by this October (sorry, but I tend to remember these things).
The downside to sponsorship is that you're restricted to a particular state (for example, Bloofox went un-sponsored and just specified, "somewhere on the NSW QLD border")... however, the 50km restriction is not about location of the business, unless you are claiming the A$1500 towards the cost of your business plan, in which case you must be more than 50km from the CBD.
