Hi We did it all ourselves - only because we have been looking into it for so long we thought we would give it a shot and see what happens. We are going to use Golden Arrow to ship our dog and have been quoted about å£2500 ish - they sound absolutely fantastic am really pleased I heard about them on the forum because it really worried me putting our dog through the process. Haven't looked into shipping quotes - will probably sell everything and start again over there - not sure yet. Where did you get your shipping quote from? As to SIR visa it is the only option we have - unless we wait another 2 years to apply for PR and that is only if the points don't go up. It is not perfect but if it is our only chance then we will take it - and South Australia government seem really keen to get people and keep people. After all we might decide we don't like it after a year anyway. The Go Matilda website has some useful info on the SIR visa which puts it into perspective. My personal view is if you go over on the visa and stick to the rules it should be okay. My main concern over and above whether we will get PR eventually is how easy it will be to get a job - I contacted SA government as I had read on here that unless you have PR employers will not employ you which seems to contradict the whole point of SIR. SA gov replied that that is not the case and that if you have any problems to get employers to contact them. I have a Canadian friend who lives in England on a working visa and she said that all you have to do is explain to employers the conditions of your visa etc and they were fine - I figure it should be about the same in Australia.
