Hi, I've just lodged my application online as well last Friday (Aug-12). Maybe we could share status to help ease the anxiety (on waiting) a bit...

OK. I'm currently in the same situation.

After our first shock we can tell you that everything turned out to be ok. We don't have to do our medicals again, but succeeded in connecting our CO...

"I think You have to get a detailed reference. I can very well understand how it feels to get this letter specially if you just started here.

But I thnk there is nothing wrong in a friendly chat with your manager. Tell him or her that you are making your LONG Term (2 - 3 years) future plans like where you want to settle in long term, family etc and tell them that you are considering Australia as One of the Option. Then you can say that there is long process to move to Aust. You have to apply and it takes about year and half.

I am sure they will understand that you want to make future plans beyond 2 years. Thus getting the letter will be easy. By the time you get your Visa, it will be almost a year and then you can decide when do you want to move. If the employer s nice and good and you like the job then stay for a while as you committed and in fairness to the employer but If you dont like the job or the employer then you should move on anyway.

Everyone does future planning (including your employer) and there is nothing wrong in it.

So Go for it...

Good Luck"

Sorry, if it sounds a bit abrupt, I want to go to the point and let you understand my problem.

"But I thnk there is nothing wrong in a friendly chat with your manager"

"Tell him or her that you are making your LONG Term (2 - 3 years) future THEY would like to be rebuttured I have got a vision of working with them for a few years at least. Can't you lie that easily ? I've some difficulties at it. Moreover, the guy has been managing is own company for 10 years already, don't you know he has got some human knowledge and he won't detect my goals ? I think there is not just a chance he finds out what is going on. It's just a BIG risk!

"If the employer s nice and good". Not all the employers are. Do you know how people react beforehand. I unfortunately don't in this particular case.

Moomim "know a lot of people say that you don't need the job when you go, but hey, who needs your life a misery in the interim?! - especially working for a smaller family business" So there are 20 people working here on average.

andrewb "I went to see HR confidentially and explained what I was doing and it would be at least a couple of years and they provided it without any problem" direct boss !

What could I probably do ? Thanks for your ideas !

This thread is really helpful, thank you bjbrian to having started it.
