Well, I really agree with you here Phoenixuk2oz (no surprise) even though I "get" what Jeremy is trying to say also, but in the end it is still not fair. I have the option of "proving" that my parents are solely dependent on me and therefore need to live with me, but this is completely stupid because my parents can actually at present support themselves and will probably be able to do so, financially, for a long time still. However they are getting older and one of these days, due to my other sibs not giving a hoot, my parents will have to go into some godforsaken old-age home because I'm miles away and no-one else is willing to take care of them. We are more than willing to pay 100% of all costs buttociated with our parents being here, and make no mistake, we've done our research and are well aware of what kind of money we are talking about here, but in the end we are not even given this option because the balance of my and hubby's family has chosen not to immigrate to Australia. I find this absolutely unfair.
At least DIMIA should have some other means by which, if a person is willing and able to take the whole of the financial burden upon themselves as a family, they should be allowed to.
