It wasn't pillow size for normal people, only big heads like you. As for why anybody would use air, why don't you ask the druggies or the AFP? I'm sure they have answers for you. Of course you aren't interested in facts are you.
Careless handling as I've stated before. Straps are easily broken. Zippers burst. Cases get torn open. etc etc etc. My next door neighbour is a baggage handler. He says it happens all the time.
Did you have a microscope attached to your TV? I've never seen detailed shots of the straps. Or are you just buttuming something that would fit your theory? (again)
