Many Qs on 457 visa as de facto spouse Sender: JAJ 209
Sort of, remember that lots of people who arrive on 457 visas want to stay but cannot do so. If their employer refuses to sponsor, or they get refused on health grounds, or something...

If your hubby applies for a send visa then you will just be added to his application. The two of you would then be expected to be able to support yourselves and any children for two years in the event of not being able to secure employment. The only buttistance you will get is maybe Family buttistance ( similar to child benefit I believe ) and maybe some help with paying rent. I am unsure of how much they expect you to have for this.

The best place to start looking is www.immi.gov.au and then if you have any more questions someone on here will more than likely be able to help.

You can always *apply* for PR but unless you meet the requirements it will be refused. A 457 visa does not guarantee PR. If one person is granted PR, it get granted to the spouse...

With regards to your original question, I am really unsure if bankruptcy would affect an application, i am sure someone will know the answer. It's just a case of waiting for someone with the right knowledge to answer. There is a few agents about, but mostly in Oz so they won't look until later tonight.

Have you thought about using a dept consolidation company. It could be an option for you if the bankruptcy thing affects the application in any way.

If I find any info in the meantime I will let you know.

Good Luck Wendy
