Tim As far as I know, on a 457, if you wanted to change employers it would be a whole new submission for the new employer and yourself. Also, you may have to leave the country etc. while it is going through as you can't apply for a 457 while already on one - I guess. Or at least, cancel the existing one which would mean you would ave to leave the country. Your existing employer could dob you in to DIMIA (in case they didn't notice when you reapply) so that's a danger. As far as I know, on a 457 you are at your employers mercy and whim. Plenty of experts here will give you more advice. Maybe even JAJ (Jeremy's) article on the top of the page, facts about 457 may tell you. I was in the same position up until a month ago. On a 457 for 13 months, really don't like the job so applied for ENS now at my own cost rather than waiting for the end of the 457 (3 years) as previously agreed with my employer which would have been their cost. Now I have the ENS, it is a lot esier to change jobswhich I am in the process of doing-looking.
