I am not waiting 4 years to get a visa when by that time I will be completely settled in Australia with a house and hopefully kids. The Canadian system is a mess, in my opinion, and also in the opinion of those in Canadian central government if recent statements are anything to go by.
Australia has twice as much annual leave as Canada, it recognises foreign qualifications much more, it has a more flexible employment sector, it has cheaper property, better weather, the Australian Govt. give you money towards your first house, and for each child you have.
In short it beats Canada hands down. People on the Canada thread regularly report not being able to get decent work in Canada, which has higher unemployment than Australia, and also complain that their experience and qualificiations are not recognised. 700,000 people are in waiting lines to enter Canada, and many will wait 5 years for a visa.
Canada claims it wants more immigrants, but in my opinion it should be focsing on those already there that can't get jobs or those in these enormous queues waiting to get in. Frankly, with a place like Australia around I can't believe Canada has treated its immigrants so badly.
For all my life, the only reason I can come up with people put up with it is because they are heading for the States and Canada is the only way in there.
