Cold Feet and a Visa for My Mum Sender: suzibabe
hi Catherine, sorry I can't give any advice about your mum and the visa situation, but i am sure someone else on the site might be able to...

Australian 136 Visa refused
Hi, I apply in Australian Skills 136 Independent category but they refused my case because of some problem of verification of my bachelors degree from my college. I sent...

Hi Catherine

It's a process fraught with emotions isn't it. My mum depends on us, like yours, we own the house she lives in and support her financially. She also has 2 other children (grown up) who have never bothered with her, we haven't seen them in years. We applied for mum (68 and in good health) to come as our dependent. We cannot go for contributory parent visa because we don't meet the balance of family, because both my brothers exist, even though they never see mum and would never support her. They won't even accept that she is financially dependent on us, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary which we supplied. She could not manage alone. Therefore, Mum can't come so we can't go as we can't leave her. Your situation may be resolvable, I don't know, as your mum is relatively young. You would need a really good agent to advise. We have spent 2 years on this and are really disappointed. Don't want to be negative for you and as I say, as your mum is young there may be other options, just be aware that parent migration where you can't meet the balance of family test or they don't have enough money for the retirement visa is exeptionally difficult. Cheers Kitty
