Confused nominated occupation Sender: OriginalSunshine

eek - this could make a difference! it's all in the 5 points.

I have a BEng (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering which is on the SOL as code 2124-11, buttessed by IEAust. As my degree is from the UK, it would be recognised through the Washington accord so I have no concerns there.

However I have worked as a Petroleum Engineer for the last 8 years which is on the SOL as code 2127-13, also buttessed by IEAust.

Both are worth 60 points. I have a degree in one, but not worked in that occupation, or I have no degree in the other but have worked in that occupation. Note, that in the UK there are only two universities that do Petroleum Engineering degrees and only those are Masters degrees and therefore not recognised by the Washington accord.

However, which would be my nominated occupation?

Remember that MODL can be changed anytime (and DIMIA do change it regularly), so if you...

Can I have Petroleum Engineer as my nominated occupation, and then claim the 10 points? or do I have to put Civil Engineer as my nominated occupation, and then only get 5points?

Should you 'challenge' it? Depends on whether you're prepared to walk away from the deal if they...

I ask because this takes me potentially from 120 points to 115 points and I miss the cut-off! :(
