We lodged our spouse visa (married) a couple months ago and had our interview on friday. A few weeks ago we applied for my wife to have work permission added on, which was granted. We were told it would NOT affect our application at all as it is reviewed seperately and not added on to the application for migration in any way. At least 2 people told us that.
Yesterday in the interview all went well except at the end she told us she will be asking for discretionary butturance of support, so no bond. The thing is, the case officer found out about debts etc which we both had but werent included on our main application for spouse migration because it wasnt a requirement. The only way she could have known is by looking at our work permit application.
So after being told the work permit application wont affect our visa application, it did. Not a big deal as we dont need a bond, just a signatory which is easy for me to provide but its annoying that they would do that. Never trust government departments!
I didnt use an agent either so I couldnt have received any professional advice about this.
