Hi,

My boyfriend (he's Australian) and I (American) have been together for over 4 1-2 years. We met in the US but in 2004 he came to Brisbane to go to uni. At that time I came over as well to study abroad. For 1 semester we lived together and then I returned to the US in July 2004. In July 2005, I moved back to Australia to finish my degree. This semester I finish, so my boyfriend and I are now applying for a defacto visa so we may stay together. We've been living together the entire time i've been here.

On September 12th, we have our meeting with Immigration. We only just found out about this option a few weeks ago so we're nervously scurrying around trying to collect any and all relevant information to bring to the meeting. My first question relates to the police and health check. I am now working on getting these things done but it appears as though I won't have any of it back before the meeting on the 12th. Is it mandatory to have the police and health check at the meeting or can you have the meeting and have the checks mailed when they're ready?

Also, just how much paperwork should we bring to the meeting? And should everything be photocopied and certified? Even things like birthday cards to one another, etc? So far we have:

ID: Copies of birthday certificates copies of pbuttports My immunization info

university transcript my resume to prove employability

University acceptance letters showing we were accepted at the same time document from university certifying my partner and I lived at the same address as long as we've lived in Australia Bank statements with transfers to one another and shared expensis proof of my financial status plane tickets bought for travel back to the us to visit family
