Reflections on good and evilMy name is Lorenzo Crescini and I'm Italian. These "Flashes on Good and evil" reflect the same mood characterizing the Flashes on the Holy Gospels and Turin's Holy Shroud I wrote...
Dear Sud
The above link is to a very good website-discussion group, some of whose members are doctors. I am not Indian, but I have just joined that group and posted a link on it to this thread. I am hoping that one of the Indian Cummunity group's doctors will respond to you, because they could probably rebutture you more than anyone else could.
protecting his wife's modesty, or a woman worrying about your own modesty. First of all, I suggest, have a look at the list of Panel Doctors that Wendy provided. Are any of the panel doctors in your area ladies? If one of them is, you might prefer to choose her.
Wherever they are in the world, you can rest buttured that the Australian authorities will demand the same standards of professional conduct from their Panel Doctors as they would from a doctor practising in Australia. I am sure you would be able to trust any of the Panel Doctors to behave absolutely properly at every stage of examining you. I am sure that he or she would understand your own embarrbuttment and nervousness, and do everything possible to put you at ease. I don't think they would be likely to object of you wanted a family member to be with you throughout the examination. If they did, you could insist on a female nurse being present instead. As far as I know, the meds for Australia do not include internal examinations for women, by the way - there is nothing on the medical form to suggest that they do. Here in the UK, women are routinely summoned for smear tests every three years. The Panel doctors here generally ask for the results of the last smear, but you get those from your own doctor and take them with you to the PD. However, if smear tests are not routine in India, you may not be asked for the results - I don't know, but hopefully one of the doctors in the Indian Community group will know about this.
So please try not to worry, and good luck with your application.
Gill
