Sorry I submitted my -empty- reply by mistake.
Your message: surely they cant fire you if you are still doing your job to the standard that you always have anyway there is a process that they have to go through (verbal and written warnings) before they can fire you unless you do something totally wreckless by the time they have been trough the process you might be telling them to shove their job anyway coz your off to oz lovex
So here' my answer: Yes they can. No they don't. I work for a small company. around 30 employees. Familial sphere with all its pros and cons. I've got some Sales Engineering job in a small company, they do what they want. And they also need to be sure people working here have a vision. Vision of keeping working here for years, as it is a specific market and knowledge is really valuable. So, if you ask a reference letter, what does it mean ? That you still have this vision, this perspective of still doing the job you're doing for the years (at least two or three) to come ? The answer is obvious I think: no. They would become - and that would be justified - suspicious. And they would more than probably prefer not to invest money in me but in someone else... I'd like the situation to be easier but I'm afraid it's not.
Thanks for your answer. It's great to know there are people out here wanting to help you ! :) Hope you can perhaps help me with this, I'm feeling stuck.
Anyone an idea ?
Cheers,
John
