I would recommend STNI rather than Employer Sponsored Visa because:
Employer Sponsored Visa is a temp visa limited to a certain period of with paying less money than someone there permantly and you may be treated less favourably if there are redundancies etc...
STNI is a state sponsored visa and is a permanant visa, you can work for any company in your chosed field in that particular state and you should get paid the correct wage. .I think you have to work in that state for 2 years
Alternatively you could go for Send Inependant which again is permanant and you can work in any state and work as anything (this may change though).
Obviously send independant takes the longest amount of time and the next alternative is STNI and then Employer Sponsored Visa. Also if your specialisation is on the MODL list (Chemical & Civil Engineer I think) then this will help the timeline aswell (although lately it has not, but thats a different matter).
You need to check what IEAust have qualified you as, i.e. Mechanical, Civil or Electronic Engineer and then determine what visa to go for.
I personally I am going for Send Independant as an Aeronautical Engineer as no state will sponsor me. I applied in February (Skills) and April (Visa) so not long to go now.
Oh I just remembered you could try Send Independant Regional in which the processing time is about 6 months but is a temp visa in which you have to work for 2 years in you chosen field in a particular state and be resident in that state for 1 year (something like that anyway)
I recommend you check out the DIMA website as things may well have changed. If you want further help then just ask
