Just got a positive buttessment back from Engineers Australia for Engineering Technologist and thus giving me those oh so precious 60 points!
Big Big thanks to Technofreak for his help.
Its such a relief to get this first step out of the way, because initially when we decided we wanted to live in Oz, we contacted a migration agent who told us that we did not have enough points to qualify for our desired send visa, because my qualifications would only get me 40 points, but didn't mention anything about doing a CDR to try and get my qualifications & 16 years experience bumped up to a 60 pointer.
HNC = 60 points IEAUST Sender: BPadhiarI would recommend STNI rather than Employer Sponsored Visa because: Employer Sponsored Visa is a temp visa limited to a certain period of with paying less money than someone there permantly and you may be...
This advice from them was like a kick in the guts, but found out that we might still be able to go through an employer sponsored visa, and after speaking to an agent that had been head hunting round our company things sounded promising, but we needed to be in a position to up and go within 2-3 months, so we did the house up and put it on the market, found a buyer in less than a week, we could have held out for a higher price but wanted to be off! Then I found this place (Expats), and found the down sides of taking employer sponsor far to risky (for my circumstances), but also found out that I may still get my 60 points for my HNC by doing a CDR.
So here I am with my positive buttessment, but now having to live in rented accommodation until we (hopefully get our visa), thanks to some not so good agent advice!
I would like to stress that the agent I spoke to is not one from this site, who always seem to give first clbutt advice, and if it was one of these I had initially spoke to I'm sure I would be in my own home right now.
Anyway winge over, cos I'm as happy as a pig in poo.
