Hi
I sympathise with your prediament as when we first started out this was one of my main concerns as our son also has had heart problems, he had a switch operation at 2 weeks old. He is, as is hopefully your son, fit and well and we have been advised that although he has the slightest heart murmer he should not require any further operations or medication etc.
I posted on this site a few times and have had replies from people in a similar situation taht have had operations and also require no further ops, some of whom were already in oz. I think it really depends on your sons condition problem and if he definitely will require a further op. Our surgeon whom he has a check up with every 2 years has said that he will write a letter for us stating our sons facts.
Apologies if rambling but you are not alone on this one and as I said earlier it will depend on what the surgeon has written, is he sure that your son will require a further op as this does not go well in your favour Im afraid, and if not sure is perhaps not best written down. You should re-check this with him.
We didnt do anything for 3 years because of this exact same reason.
regards
