Hi All,
A question arose the other night in the pub regarding working in Oz (dont they always..along with the "i thought you were going to Oz" which we answer "we're still waiting for the stamp" ).
Anway..If someone goes to oz on a holiday visa and they manage to get an offer of a job, is it a major hurdle to get some sort of temp working visa whilst onshore ? Similarly if, instead of the normal ETA, a person applied for the working holiday visa and whilst in oz got a temp job which could lead to a permanant position is it a biggy for the employer to obtain the necessary visa for that person to remain in oz on a more permanant temporary basis ?
I might add that the person doesnt really have a trade-qualifications as such and so the other routes seem alittle closed off. However they do have a relo over there and would be quite happy on the shovel.
For what its worth i said that i didnt think many companies would give them a lookin without some sort of working permission and that if you are found to be working when you shouldnt be you can say hello to a quick escort to the ariport and kiss goodbye to going back.
Many thanks Chaval
