I need to get a new copy of my Australian birth certificate (it was lost). I checked the .au website, and I don't have the ID they want (Australian pbuttport or Australian drivers license). After mentioning this to someone, the person said that USA vital statistics offices won't send them out of the country. Is that true in Australia? (It seems it may be the case, because the .au site for another area also lists a foreign pbuttport with a current-valid Australian entry stamp as acceptable, but no other additional options... meaning you are currently IN Australia.)
I was born in Australia, and my family moved to the USA when I was three. So how do I get my birth certificate, if I am neither in Australia nor have Australian ID? I will probably have to call them, but I thought I would post this here first. (I don't have other immediate family there, such as parents or siblings, to obtain it for me and forward it - I do have other relatives. One other thing, if I authorize someone to get it, such as an attorney, then they want copies of both my Australian ID, and the attorneys ID.)
