Should you 'challenge' it? Depends on whether you're prepared to walk away from the deal if they say no.

Although if they do say no, maybe it's better you know that now rather than in a few years time. Either you reject the deal, or accept it with eyes open.

For Employer Nominated permanent residence, the rules changed completely in April and now a skill buttessment is normally required for immediate PR. However they have done away with 'labour market testing' for all but exceptional cases.

Many companies have no idea about visas and just take the line of least resistance. So talk to them to begin with. Do they have a policy on sponsorship for permanent visas? Do they *know* about the permanent visas available? And so on.

When you ask "what checks do 'they' do" you need to be more specific. DIMIA do not credit check migration applicants (other than business skills), for example.
