a) when you leave, Adelaide will grant the visa on the system and then forward details to the nominated overseas post. Usually takes about 3 working days to sort before the overseas post then sticks the visa into your pbuttport. They advise prearing to stay overseas for at least 8 working days to allow time to sort unforeseen hitches. So Adelaide grant the visa, you then go and get evidence of that visa via the overseas post. b) That's right, the visa can not be granted while you remain in Australia but it is Adelaide that will grant it and the only thing stopping them granting it is you being inside Australia c) Yes, Auckland would be the evidencing post, usually 3 working days to sort but you should book 8 working days there to make sure. d) Only if something comes to their notice in the mean time that would affect your eligibility for the visa e.g. you lied in your application or submitted a bogus document or you no longer meet the health standards - so it would be rare or unheard of for you not to get granted your visa at this stage e) The Pre-grant letter will advise you of when you have to arrive back in Australia on the migrant visa - it should also give you time limit by which you should notify DIMIA of your itinerary - usually 70 days plus a notification period of 7 days. The longer you leave this, the more chance there is of a change in your circumstances that could affect your eligibility for the visa.
