Hi All
RebutturanceHi, How many points will you get for age? If you write down here how points are allocated, then it is easier to say something about it...
I have read with interest a number of posts (particularly from JAJ) regarding students applying for perm residency after completing their studies. It has been mentioned a number of times that these applications are complicated and students often fail and end up going home due to errors in the application process. This worries me a bit - I'm starting to think I must have missed something because to me it seems reasonably straight-forward!
I am applying for Send Independent Overseas Student (DD 880). I have a 50 point occupation but will meet the 120 pbutt mark due to PhD at Australian Uni and also Bonus Points (Capital Investment).
If I am well prepared in advance (i.e. have my positive skills buttessment completed (based on BSc and MSc), have all AFP-Overseas PCC's ready, front-load medicals etc) I should be able to apply within a few days of receiving my 'you have pbutted letter' from my Uni.
I won't become unlawful at any time (my student visa is valid til Apr 2007 and I intend to apply April 2006) so neither should I need to apply for a Grad Send Temp Visa.
If anyone can tell me anything I may have overlooked I'd appreciate it. I don't really want to use a Migration Agent if it can be helped as I don't have a lot of money to play with (it's all being saved to make the $100K capital investment!).
I'd appreciate any comments you may have.
