1. Spouse visas are normally straightforward. However as you are not an Australian citizen you need to be "usually resident" in Australia, some DIMA posts are more flexible than others.
2. They will have to enter Australia within 12 months of medicals-police checks. They can freely move in and out after that.
3. Your Oct 2007 visa deadline to move back to Australia is not flexible (unless you get another RRV - normally difficult if you are not living in Australia. Read form 968i). You need to get back to Australia before then, not be outside Australia on the date the visa expires, and then not leave Australia until you get another RRV.
It is possible to get another 5 year RRV without having 2 years residence in Australia provided you are *living* in Australia.
If serious about a future in Australia - don't leave it until the last minute to return. DIMA will not be sympathetic if something delays you further.
