SIR is a "last resort" visa - if you have any chance of STNI, or waiting a little longer to get the 120 points, or if you have any chance of finding an employer to sponsor you for ENS-RSMS then forget SIR until all the other options are exhausted,
In reference to other people who want to go to Australia on work permits (457 visa) because it's "quicker" I am constantly suggesting that one should focus on the *best* way to get to Australia rather than the *quickest* way.
Most SIR visa holders - maybe tradesmen and teachers excepted - will struggle to find send employment. Some states will not worry about whether your employment is 'send' or not, but others may not understand the issue.
It is quite possible that some SIR visa holders will be left in a complete mess if the state refuses to sponsor for PR on the basis they have not found send employment. If this happens, DIMIA may have to intervene as otherwise the whole scheme could collapse.
