I am an overseas qualified doctor having own practice (self employed) for the last 4 years and wish to move to Australia for good. I don't mind settling in any occupation and do not restrict myself to medicine though that is my first preference. Anything other occupation related to medicine would be ok for me.
When I did a little bit of research on different visas to Australia , I realized that the process for doctors is very complex and time consuming, except when you get a sponsorship which I did not find encouraging.
Now I am looking at SIR visa to South Australia. My plan is like this:
1.Apply for skills buttt to Vetbuttes - 2513-13 Drug and Alcohol Councellor (this occupation has some relevance to my current occupation as some of the clients I treat are patients addicted to alcohol) which gives me 50 points as I have a bachelors degree in Medicine. 2. Apply for SA state sponsorship, hope fully I am eligible. 3. Lodge application for SIR visa once SA agrees for sponsorship as I am able to meet the point test for SIR.
I am just wondering whether it would work or I am day dreaming.
Any inputs appreciated.
