Hi Jeremy,
It's rare that I get the chance to correct you, but this is one.
Why NOT contact DIMIA Sender: SeabirdMaybe I'm missing something other than just my marbles, but it seems alot of people on here seem to be really worried about contacting DIMIA about things, even once they are allocated a case...
First, the link for the MODL is now thoughtfully reviewed their entire send migration website from 1 July - and yes, Civil Engineers are currently a MODL occupation, although for how long that might be is anyone's guess; IEAust were quite surprised when it happened, they don't think there's much of a shortage here.
Second, and this is to correct some of the other posters, if you do a Washington Accord buttessment you get an buttessment which reflects the breastle of the degree, unless you take positive steps to have your buttessment issued in a particular occupation. You can certainly do this through a CDR application instead of a Washington Accord application. You can also do it through preparing a reasoned argument to submit with your Washington Accord application; this might need to be supported by a career episode or employer reference indicating which occupation you trained in. However it's clear that the STNI and SIR states go entirely on the ASCO code - some can be lobbied successfully but it's better to correct the issue with IEAust at the outset.
Cheers,
George Lombard
