Having done several moves internationally, my answer would be 'don't.
RPL ApplicationHi, I am currently in the early stages of applying to the ACS for a skills buttessment to ultimately get my visa for Australia by applying under the MODL...
Reasons: 1 it's too messy ink 2 if you pack fabrics in with newspaper, the rub off onto the fabric 3 use white paper - check your local newspaper for ends of newsprint rolls. Many sell these or even give them away; also scrounge around stores for free bubble wrap etc 4 check with the company whose services you are using if applicable. They will often give it to you or charge you a small fee 5 as you pack each item and write the contents on it - there's nothing worse than having a bunch of wrapped items in front of you a couple of months down the line and thinking 'what's this!.... 6 before you put the first item in a new box, take a pen and mark a number on the box and on a piece of pad paper at the same time then list each item as you wrap it and place it in the box on the pad paper* 7 you will need lots of paper to stuff down the corners, layer inbetween fragiles and pack on top - overstuff the boxes.
* - check with your insurance company re payout in the case of items being damaged broken. In many instances, if you do NOT list EVERY ITEM INDIVIDUALLY, you will get a pro-rated payout instead of payment for the items.
At the end of each day, make up a list on your computer i.e. box number and page number-print a couple of copies and put in a safe place. Stick the page you wrote your original list on back onto the box - this way, when the movers or whoever do your inventory, they know what's in the box i.e. kitchenwares etc.
Sublist all items i.e. bath linens, bedwares, kitchenware, dinette etc etc etc. example: 6 cotton handtowels $2 each $6 3 pink bath towels $7 each $21 then subtotal each finally adding all subs together to get one grandtotal. Ensure the insurance carrier receives a copy of this. Please be realistic with prices - insurance adjusters are not dumb! If in doubt, discuss things with your moving co-ordinator and insurance carrier!
Have fun!
