I have a very good friend who is trying to get a visa to stay on the Gold Coast. She is single, 47 years old and her entire family live over here.

So, she was told that she could apply for last remaining relative. She sold up in the UK and came over here on a years holiday visa. That ran out so she went to work on a cruise ship for 6 months. When she got back she went to apply for her last remaining relative visa only to be told that although her parents have lived here for 14 years they are not clbuttes as permanent residents as they are on a relirement visa. Therefore she is not last remaining relative.

Her parents asked to become permanent only to be told that it would cost them $80,000 (money they simply do not have).

She has now had to go back on the cruise ship for 6 months and as you can imagine she and her entire family are absolutly devestated (she has 2 sistersbrothers in law, neices and nephews living here).

I know rules are rules but sometimes things just seem so bl---y unfair as there is no other visa she can come in on.

Has anyone else had a similar experience or does anyone have any ideas.

She and her family would be very grateful for any help.

Thanks

Hi, Sharon. This is our situation: I am a Norwegian man who is married to an Australian (been married for nearly 6 years now). We have a 10 month old daughter together...

If your hubby applies for a send visa then you will just be added to his application. The two of you would then be expected to be able to support yourselves and any children...
