Hi all.
I have a place to study for an Masters degree in Sydney. IF I were to accept this place starting end of July, do I have enough time from now to get through medical-admin process?
With an aspiration of many years now to work & settle in australia, I understand the rules-regulations regarding obtaining PR on completion of the course (i.e. it's no mean feat!), but would greatly appreciate some general advice.
How difficult is it to obtain temporary work in Sydney and use this as a base for a permanant position via sponsorship? (either before completing the degree or after). I appreciate the process is not easy, but how would employers generally view an applicant like myself - qualified but needing sponsorship as I have no legal right to work without it.
I have contacted quite a few recruiters and a couple of firms, but have met with rather mixed reviews. It seems that there are jobs out there, and my skills-experience appear to be viewed positively (a financial market dealer - have MSc and 3 yrs postgrad experience as well as 2 before degree).
When to send Medical Forms SIRcaz.hunter Hello Caz I'm no expert on send visas. Is SIR one of the ones that the ASPC handle? If so, there is now an e-mail address where you can send the ASPC...
On the other hand, my experience is quite specific and few people I speak to seem to have ever placed an overseas student either during or after degree in Oz. So it seems it would just be a complete gamble - as there is no way for me to attain either PR or sponsorship from UK.
The difficulty I feel is that this has been an aspiration of mine for a long time, but I don't want to be chasing a pipe-dream as I realise it is a very tricky task to just turn up for a degree and look for work - could come home 2yrs later, poorer and disappointed.
Any advice very gratefully received. Thanks
