Wow....thank you so much for writing such a long and detailed post, you have given some brilliant advice and it's so useful to hear how other people approached the TRA part.

Thats really interesting that they didn't give you grief over not having your City and Guilds records...fortunately BF has his certificates so at least thats one less worry, but it's the references that we are going to have trouble with, we may have to do a lot of stat decs but fortunately my friends BF is a barrister so that will help keep costs down for certifying things!

We are going to get started over Easter, the plan is to spend the day in a quiet country pub we know, and get all the detail for each job he did (or should I say, each one he can remember) written down on paper. All over a few pints of course to ease the trauma!

From there we will start approaching former companies for references. A lot of people have said they have basically written the references themselves and got their former employer to just print it out on company letterhead, did you do this?
