Thanks for replies. As you can see from my first posting it was 5.44 am in the UK - so finding it difficult to sleep whilst waiting for the decision regards the visa - have we got one or not - will we have to stay here afterall?
We did consider renting our house out in the UK and 6 out of 6 estate agents said definately dont do it. We have spent over 3 years doing up a 300 year old house and its nearly finished. They said that no matter who they put in it it would never be the same again as people dont look after things like you do. Everything is new now ie bathrooms kitchen etc., and if wrecked or damaged it would break my heart. Not only that but if we decided we liked Australia after say 2 years, we would have to come back and repaint the whole house etc., and then sell it. That means more flights back home, time off work, more work on house, and wait until its sold before going back out. I think a house sells better furnished as opposed to an empty shell. Have we put our furniture etc., in storage, or let prospective tenants use them?
The headache of renting it out was nearly as bad as waiting for the visa. So we have decided to cut and run. Sell up and take the money. That way hopefuly we can buy something in Aus mortgage fee (I hated paying rent when I was younger). Obviously we will have to rent first to get a feel of the place. One thing I havent looked into yet, on a 457 Visa, - hope we are allowed to buy - oh dear - never thought to look that one up.
There is alot to think about - better put the kettle on. Cheers
