Its not too late and there are always options even after the 45 barrier, but send independant will give you the best option.
RPL does take a while, but if you take a couple of weeks holiday and knuckle down then it will be possible to be ready to submit something before too long.
Once you've submitted your ACS application you can immediately apply for the 136 visa, form 47SK and 80's, you'll get to know the numbers in due course. You don't need to wait for your result from the ACS before applying, the 47SK form just asks that you've submitted your application, you can then follow up your main application with the results at a later date, they should be requested by you case officer when they start processing you case. So you can overlap some tasks. Also if you don't have the necessary references ready before the ACS application is ready, you can still send it off and they'll be requested by the ACS giving you 40 or 50 days or so to get them in order in which time you could also send in the 136 application.
My skill is Software Programmer, not in demand (MODL) but still a 60 point occupation. My RPL was successful in Nov 2005.
If there are companies that no longer exist, are you still in touch with has lots of cases like yours. If they're not happy they ask for more information.
