TRA and ACS
Hi All I know I may have asked a similar question here before to which Tony answered, but cannot find the thread. We have...

Hi KJB,

Vetbuttess only buttesses the level of your qualification. Although there are many occupations which are buttessed on the send occupation list (SOL) by Vetbuttess, as far as they're concerned a "degree" level qualification means you can be buttessed as a physicist, oenologist or management consultant. Equally, all diploma level qualifications are worth 40 points except if they're engineering ones in which case they're sometimes worth 60 (but in that case they're not buttessed by Vetbuttess).

In order to determine whether your recent work experience is in a SOL occupation a case officer must have regard to the ASCO dictionary (there's a link to this in the SOL form 1121i). If you think that the new job is close to the definition there, then you're possibly ok, but there's no way of being sure until a case officer says yes. Some occupations are easy to clbuttify, others are difficult. Something like this depends as much on what an employer or supervisor will put in your reference at the end of the two years, but you could start by negotiating a duty statement which is reasonably close to the ASCO descriptors.
