Which trade + Skills buttessment

Thanks to those who responded to my initial enquiry.

I can see that I would need to have a skills buttessment, but I am unsure of which category I would fit in.

I've been working for a well known UK telecomunications provider, but I can't see an item on the SOL which exactly matches my occupation.

My apprenticeship was in IT, and that's what appears on my completion certificate, but shortly after that I moved into another department where I worked mostly on optical fibre transmission systems. I did a number of short training courses for which I have certificates including optical fibre jointing, pole climbing and overhead cable installation. This role continued for about 3 years, but in reality I did little cable installation but mostly buttisted the development and testing of some new optical fibre installation equipment.

In April this year though, I have returned to indoor work, mostly testing and documenting new optical fibre transmission equipment.

The closest match I could find was "Communications Linesperson", but somehow I think this will not be accepted because I have not done very much real-world installation work.

I also notice that in the latest SOL this has been changed to "General Communications Tradesperson". Does this make things easier for me?

What do you people think?
