Can anyone advise on the dependancy rules for the Temporary 4 year employer sponsored visa?My daughter is 17 years old and is undecided about coming to Aus with us. I am really worried that if she doesn't she may be shut out of any permanent visa which we may obtain while we are there. I am the one being sponsored, but my husband is on the SMD and, if he gets a job within the next six months when his listing runs out, he could get permanent residency from a skill matching visa.
I cannot get advice from migration agents - I have rung several but they are not interested as the visa has been submitted by the recruitment agency. The recruitment agency are dealing direct with DIMIA, who I have heard can be very unsympathetic in their judgements of a situation. If anyone can answer the following questions I would be grateful:
Does she need to enter the country with us when we travel on the temp visa? Can she stay in Aus on the temp visa after she turns 18? If my husband gets sponsored off the SMD, would she need to be in Aus to be included on the visa?(She was included on the original application) If she stays behind and moves in with her friend, does this mean Dimia consider her no longer dependent?
I am at my wits end as I can't get advice and don't want to ring DIMIA before I know the rules - catch 22!
Hope someone out there can help.
