In regards to being unable to get information from a company.... You would need to do a stat dec covering this amount of time stating that you cannot get details as they no longer exist. Other options would be ....Are you still in contact with anyone who worked at the company...? Even on a friendly basis? They could write a letter stating that they knew you from X Date to Y Date and could confirm you worked at the company during that time.... long shot but you have any pay slips from back then? If so, include those or contact your local tax office & ask them to post you some sort of confirmation that you were being paid thru that company & paid national insurance contributions....... anything like that is great to bolster your claim that you did work there.......
If the company was in the UK & no longer exists, the go to this web "WebCheck" (Available only Monday to Saturday 07:00 - 12 Midnight). On the online form , you can search the name of the company that no longer exists, and it will display lots of details about it...... including the date it went out of business. Print this off (its free) and include it with a Stat Dec detailing when you worked there & your duties, etc as an attachment.
