I wonder if any one can help us - my husband has a child from a previous relationship, however he has had no contact with the child since he was born (over 9 years), nor is he is named on the birth certificate. Our migration agent informed us that we needed to track the child down to have a medical. Following our investigations we have been informed that the mother has changed the child's name to the man she is now married to. We have been to see a solicitor who has informed us that no court in UK would allow a medical to proceed on a child who may or may not even know that the person who he calls dad is not his biological father. Our migration agent has said we need to get a Statutory Declaration confirming there has never been a relationship but that its up to the case officer who will buttess our TRA to decide. We have said to her that we cannot be the first couple where by one party has a child from a previous relationship and has no contact at all who wishes to migrate to Australia - and have asked if there is someone i.e at the Australian Embbutty who we could get in touch with to help - however we've asked the question three times now and have not got an answer - is there anyone out there who has been or is in a similar situation who could point us in the right direction of who we could speak to for some advice????
