I am new here and I must say that I find this news really useful :D
I also have a couple of questions: I will be going to Brisbane in september-october sponsored by my employer, and I was happily submitting a 457 online application when suddenly I realized that it doesn't let you attach more than 15 documents! (!!!). I contacted the people from DIMIA and they told me that once my case is buttigned to a Case Officer, within the next week he-she will contact me so that I can send him-her the rest of the documents by email.
The point is, how much time does it typicaly take to get in touch with the Case Officer for the first time? it's been already 5 days and I didn't got any news... should he get in touch with me by email? phone? how?

I am also trying to add my girlfriend to my 457 application, and we are including a lot of evidence of our relationship (statutory declarations, bills, zillions of pictures, invitations to weddings, joint bank account, holidays together, zillions of flights together, etc etc). The point is that, because of family reasons, it was impossible for us to consider living together until very recently, but we have had two years of genuine relationship already. How strict are at the DIMIA with the requirement of living together as a proof of de facto relationship with 457 applications? I guess that depends very much on the case, am I right? I say this because I have the feeling that it is somehow like a lottery...
