Beware a 'Digital MunichBeware a 'Digital Munich' MzcwWj.html By Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN) November 7, 2005 It sounds like a Tom Clancy plot. An anonymous group of international technocrats holds secretive meetings in Geneva. Their cover story...
I am pretty sure that you don't have to get every single statement witnessed by a solicitor. I am sure it would acceptable just to get some folk to write a statement and just get them to put their name address and telephone number on it so that DIMIA can contact them if necessary.
When I applied for my Defacto Spouse Visa (in the UK) I had signed and witnessed Stat Decs from myself and my partner, my sister in the UK and two from friends in Australia. I thought about getting some letters from friends and other relatives but in the end decided not to bother unless DIMIA requested further evidence (which they didn't). I got my visa in 20 days (it would have been sooner but I had a small problem with high blood pressure and my meds had to be referred to Australia)
The only other documents I got signed and witnessed were copies of our pbuttports, birth certificates and drivers licences. Everthing else was just simple photocopies of bills in joint names, travel receipts, letters, etc. (I didn't want to send the originals in case they went missing !!)
It is a very stressful time and I know I worried over every last detail in my application but in the end it was so straightforward I shouldn't have wasted my energy stressing out so much !!!
