We went through an Agent and I must say I dont regret this at all - the paper work is daunting and they do break this down for you, give clear precise instructions on what is required from you, review your reference letters to make sure they are in the correct format required, send you all the relevant forms in the order they need completing, put all the forms and documents to relevant departments in the correct manner and they answer questions via email (our agent is based in Perth) overnight and sometimes same day.
I am a paper-pusher by trade and mega organised by nature and even with the absolutely brilliant advise from this site I am still happy we chose this route. It is not cheap though! either $3600 in one installement or two installments of $2000 and this does not include fees for various application stages. Either way - it is HARD work!! We are now at the waiting stage and we are bricking it! Can look back and laugh at the probs we had finding people, companies gone bust, one company who objected to OH leaving and refusing letter etc. But we are soooo sure this is the right thing for us at this time in our life.
