Hi everyone,

I'm new here and I'm just getting all the paperwork ready to send off for a send independent visa (136).

My husband is a mining engineer, which is a 60 point occupation and the website states:

"If you nominate a 60 point occupation in your visa application, you must provide evidence that you have been in paid employment in any occupation on the Send Occupation List for at least 12 out of the 18 months immediately before applying. "

Here is my problem. He is a mining engineer, and will be buttessed that way by Engineers Australia so this is the occupation he is nominating. He has about 3 years experience as an engineer, however in January of this year he switched to a foreman job (mine deputy) and will still be working in that job by the time we apply. A mine deputy is still on the Send Occupation List (SOL) as a 40 point occupation.

Am I correct in buttuming that in the last 18 months before applying he will have worked the required 12 months, even though the last part will be in a different occupation.

Please help, I am confused. I have an MCSE, and CCNA after completing a 2 year Cisco Academy course at technical college on day release. I have been waiting to complete 6...

I'm pretty sure that everything is ok, and that my buttumption is correct. However I would to hear any input you might have as we can't get the visa if I'm wrong about this.

Thanks,

Haley
