restaurant question 4674
Gregory Morrow Hey, I had a corner tavern, once! It was quite common back in the day for me to not have to pay...

I do not fully understand your point SW except your perturbed that I am making sport and you first responded. Yes, I am attempting to be funny, clever, extremely cynical and ever so corny when I say it stands for the ADM/Monsanto Dynasty (thus the acronym AMD), not just the ADM Corp you guys jumped on. ADM is way too myopic for this issue. These two main players and their teams alone load their pocket at the expense of the American Tax Payer to the tune of Billions of USDs in subsidies using various trade groups, buttociations, affiliates, questionable competing companies, lobbying companies, paid researchers, as well as prime time advertising to buy and sell influence, very similar manner to the Drug companies tactics. The real sham is they seem to have no corporate conscience about what they do and how they do it. These guys play two up against the farmers much too often to have any loyalties

As to the actual statement of who said it is natural? I believe that was the Corn Refiners buttociation's HFCS fact sheet spin the CSPI's lawsuit against Cadbury Schweppes.

Kahlua White Russian Cheesecake Makes about 12 servings 1 1/2 pounds cream cheese, softened 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 4 eggs 1/4 cup...

Now who is " The Corn Refiners buttociation" ( CRA), who actually funds and controls them? Yes, the same AMD team I mentioned as well as the other players. Curious to know if you have you ever been in an trade buttociation or better yet, an officer in an buttociation? If so you know Monies talk, a lot. Nexus-Lexus, and other search engines show the Pres of CRA, Audrae Erickson, was also a director of governmental relations for the Washington Office of the American Farm Bureau Federation, a director for agricultural affairs at the United States Trade Representative's Office, the agency responsible for U.S. trade policy in the Executive Office of the president and an economist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service where she specialized in trade and environment issues. She also worked on agricultural finance and credit issues during her tenure at ERS. Additionally she is also the co-founder of AG-Trade, a political action group that specializes in agricultural trade issues dealing with the world outside the US such as trade policy, negotiations, dispute settlement, trade negotiating authority for the president, sanctions, World Trade Organization matters, the International Monetary Fund and the Free Trade Area of the Americas. Highly qualified to do what she doe? You bet she is. I recall her name as a mouth piece player early on in some of the Food Safety aspects in Anti-terrorism legislation. I read her as all PAC monies, no Cattle. To date, she doesn't appear to have changed skin.

Funny thing is this is the second time OT subjects have been a major news interest in as many weeks, last was Salmon when WA State DOH issued a warning on eating hatchery salmon during the Great Pen salmon debate. Last night after this thread appeared it was a boring movie night so we watched "Supersize Me", an indie documentary which was a bit slanted for effect ( yes) and political (yes) but their was interesting points brought out that I feel are important such as the sugar/fat fix we as a world, more so Americans, are experiencing, largely because of marketing and a laissez faire governmental attitude towards our food supply. The selling of Junk food to the school lunch programs, etc. The guy averaged a LB of sugar a day eating/drinking McDonalds meals every day that is along with the weight gain, elevated Lipids and mood swings he experienced. Now facts and figures can be interpreted and reinterpreted anyway one wants to and I will admit I am a retired Vet so Agent Orange is in my mind and I see it again used in SA supposedly for good purposes, I know what Roundup is and the crops that are Roundup ready, I am not uneducated on these issues, I just cannot see how it helps the ecology any nor mankind being constantly fumigated by this crap. Anyway , facts can be argued ad nasum but it remains we a largely a 2-income nation on the go and as such cooking is a luxury, eating is a necessity. So despite the recent rise in interest in cooking so we turn to packaged and preprocessed products, take out meals and the new Home Replacement meals. So we have to have products we can trust not hyped to sell. If the problem as Stan says is Sugar control( read taxes) by the government get rid of them, not let some slick lobbyist sell as a work-around solution that we as Taxpayers have to heavily subsidize and pay for in added health issues later in life. So Steve I feel your issues and comments with me are very superficial in the scheme of thing. Does not mean I do not respect you or you opinion. Just that others may have informed opinions also.

Playing to the crowd, you bet I was. Weren't you also a bit?

my best to you this day, Steve

Why exactly is "high fructose corn syrup" not natural? High fructose corn syrup is processed from corn in some way, making it clearly artificial in my opinion. Cane sugar is processed from sugar cane, again...
