Calphalon and All-Clad typically run that much for one pot. Or more, depending on the pot...

That's not true - none of it. The only thing that will make it pit is storing acidic foods in it, or washing it with the wrong cleansers. There isn't a single pot that lists at $1500 - I bought an entire starter set in 1984 for $400 - and the same set starts for around that same price now. If she paid some store that much for a pot she's an idiot. I have purchased multiple pieces over the years and I think the most expensive I have found was $185. If she had called the mfr. and requested the pot be sent in for replacement, they would have replaced it. I have exchanged 4 pots this way over the years, with no hbuttle - and yes, some of them were pitted (from string pasta sauce in them)..

The only truth in what you wrote is that you cannot wash them in the dishwasher. I wash mine by hand and rinse them well in the dishwasher all the time. You don't need to use "scrubbies" because the food comes off easily, if you use the pans correctly. You can use metal utensils - unless you have the non-stick and then it must be treated as any other non-stick pan.

Well, before you go shaking your head maybe you shouldn't go off half-cocked on heresay. I have used Calphalon almost exclusively for 22 years and couldn't be happier. They are a company that stands behind their products and their products are exceptional in design and performance. It's pretty ridiculous to poo on a product you, yourself have never used. Your brother can send his unwanted Calphalon to me - I will even pay for shipping.
