description' unfortunately - they most often are Staffies, or Staffie crosses, the term pit bull came about from people breeding, rearing and training them as pit fighting dogs (and a right sorry, bloody mess these make of each other, too - it's disgusting...), of course looking to breed the kind of traits into them that they desired for such. An utter abomination - Staffies are normally some of the sweetest, friendliest people dogs there are, and make *excellent* family pets. Of course, now they have had their name, image and temperement tarnished by the creeps that have done the above.
Here's a snippet from an article Kath dug up for me - sorry, don't have a link to the original!:
"Before you buy a Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy it is wise to ensure that this is the correct dog for you and your family. The Stafford is renowned for its affinity with humans and is particularly good with children. He is therefore a dog who is more comfortable sharing your home or indeed your lap, than spending long periods of time on his own in a kennel. It should be borne in mind that the cute little puppy you first brought home will mature into a powerful and muscular animal and the males particularly, *require a strong arm to control the lead. Staffords love human contact and will often be boisterous with visitors -..."
Indeed they are, VERY strong dogs, very loving and totally nuts when they are having fun.
The bit I astrisked above article = No poo Sherlock! I've seen many a big guy have to dig their heels right in to hold one back that had other ideas, heheheheh...
You are most welcome! They can vary quite a lot from different parents, some of the breed are quite small, others I've seen are a lot larger, and even different shaped somewhat - the smaller ones tend to have a bigger taper to their body than the larger ones. And yes, colours! As you can see, the one we found is 100% all white and adorable. I also love the ones with mullticolouring, bit like a tabby (is that called 'brindled' or am I confused now? Heheheh...) - gorgeous...
Cheers Margaret!
