Let me just add to Stan's wonderfully comprehensive report of the lunch at Margaret's:
Curly Sue and Stan were delightful "co-guests" with the DH, Danielle, Marcel and me. Margaret is the most exemplary of hostesses, as always. She insisted that we have lunch at her place rather than a Manhattan deli, which gave us plenty of time to linger around the table and chat. We also talked about the people who weren't there, so you NYers should really think twice about pbutting up Margaret's hospitality. Not only does she lay on an amazing spread, but you never know what we're going to say about you :-) Note to Jack Schidt...heh, heh
If you have the blessed good luck to be invited to Margaret Suran's for a meal, be advised that you should arrive hungry. No, scratch that. Arrive *starved*, as Margaret and my mother must have gone to the same foodie school: "It's better to have too much than not enough." If you read Stan's post, you know that the food was plentiful and excellent. G*d, I wish I could get pastrami like that in SoCal!!!
Margaret, my dear, many thanks for a gastronomic delight and an entertaining afternoon. Salude to Marcel!
And, Barb, if you're reading this: your jam Margaret that gave us is being parceled out by the teaspoon.
