Of course Nathalie, your experiences with French Wine versus mine can no doubt be two totally different experiences.
As I've previously stated, French Wines are known to be the finest in the world. One can easily spend a small fortune for a bottle of the finest French Bordeaux's-Chateau's.
My most memorable, and enjoyable experiences with Wine though have usually never been from running to the store to buy a bottle of Wine.
It was being right on the spot, when a Barrel would be opened when the time was right, when the vinter, (which in some cases was myself) was getting ready to decant, and bottle.
It was at those moments that one sould sure get a big smile. Nothing in my opinion comes close to this.
No doubt about it, Wine Making is, and can be a very complicated "science", and is also an old world "art" pbutted from generation, to generation.
Just like Beer, Yeasts in different regions of the world can impart its own signature flavor to wine. Take for example Belgian Trappist Ales.
A wine temp. questionBob already gave some good information so I'll just expand on it a bit. "Room temperature" goes back to when houses had no central heat and basements were in the 50 degree range in winter...
Wine Barrels by themselves is a very important critical science, and art. The preparation alone of a wine barrel can truly make, or break even the world's finest grapes.
Really a cool thread. Mark
