Litttle Malice oh, you have my sympathy! Just keep in mind that a puppy's jaw grows until he is about 19 months old so you still have about...

(Litttle Malice) rummaged among random neurons and opined:

Two suggestions from one who has had two Labs: either a muzzle, a beef knuckle bone or a combination of both. An adult Lab (at least mine) could go through a beef knuckle bone in about 3 days, but it was like an *obsession* with the dog. It has the added bonus of cleaning the plaque off their teeth. (One down side was that one of 'em didn't seem to notice the difference between my Persian rug and the bone. You don't want to know how much it cost to fix a teensy weensy corner of Persian rug. Serves me right for letting him on the rug in the first place.)

I adopted a maltreated (by the next door neighbor) Lab mix who was 4 years old at the time and the vet said she'd never seen a worse case of dental plaque on such a young dog. Within six months of beef knuckle bone chewing, that dog's teeth were clean as a whistle.

Could he tell the difference between the beef nuckle and human knucles? This is important I think. Thank you all for the information about Labs. They are a little big for my...

BTW, exactly how clean is a whistle?
