It diverts some of them, but more important it gives you someplace to put the little monsters. ;-) I don't use Anise at all as I don't care for the taste, but it's a robust plant and grows well, and is food for them.

Oh I LOVE dill and use a lot of it! I just mixed what was left of my white pepper with the black so I could free up a spice container to store the rest of what I just finished

I've never tried it, but IMO if you use the fresh dried dill within less than 6 months, it retains a lot of flavor. If you buy it dried, you have no idea how old it is. I dry it myself, I know exactly how old. ;-)

I use dill on fish and also canned, fresh frozen and fresh steamed veggies along with sesame seeds.

I just heated up some low sodium canned string beans with butter, dill and sesame seeds. They were WONderful! Low sodium canned (no salt added) are not anywhere near as mushy as the regular canned veggies. Much brighter taste and firmer texture.

It is way, way too humid here most of the time to try hanging. :-( A paper bag with a bunch of dessicants might work.

The dehydrator I'm using is a convection unit and was cheap cheap cheap. 30 bucks at Harbor Freight for 8 trays. I've been using it now for around 5 years for herbs and jerky. -- Peace, Om.
