Brooklyn and Bronx

Small Request
Or perhaps not so small for some... I am one of the (likely) few people here who actually has to pay to download Usenet. In Japan, telephone calls are not free and are charged in...

~I'm taking two separate trips to NY in the next two weeks, one to Brooklyn, ~the other to the Bronx. I'd love to find some great NY goodies to take back ~home to Boston. The trip to the Bronx will be focused on Arthur Avenue, the ~Brooklyn trip is mostly to the Botanical Gardens. ~ ~What can you suggest to fill up my shopping bags? I will stop at Penzeys ~enroute one of the times, and at Balduccis in Westport also, unless you have ~better suggestions. Fortunately my companions are all interested in ~cooking, so they won't mind. Any other kinds of "must-do" shopping will be ~greatly appreciated.

Stu Leonard's is all but across the street from Penzey's, and worth some time wandering around. I wasn't impressed with the prices, but they do have variety and some interesting scenery.

Up Prospect to Grand Something Plaza is often a Farmer's market. Go aorund the plaza and head down Flatbush towards Manhattan, and you will find Juniors.

Wander through Prospect Park as well--it's pretty this time of year.

Say Hi to the Bonsai room at the Botanical Gardens. That and the Tropical room downstairs are my favorites.
